After some months of chess apathy, I have returned to blitzing in the Internet. Surprisingly, my opponents have been seriously interested in knight endgames. However, some years ago I did my homework studying knight endgames by Averbach and Gelfer.

Above, after 59. f7 there is a simple win for Black. However, in time trouble I went for material elimination, believing that a knight can not lose a tempo. Unless, there is an enemy pawn to help it do so. The game can be replayed here.

Then, my opponent overlooked the importance of having a distant freepawn in a knight endgame, 27... Nxa4. Sure, this was a bit lucky, but the advantage is surely on the black side. The game can be replayed here.
